Cocrystalline Mixtures of Titanyl Fluorophthalocyanine and Unsubstituted Titanyl Phthalocyanine

Abstract

Cocrystalline mixtures of titanyl fluorophthalocyanine and unsubstituted titanyl phthalocyanine have been prepared. These mixtures exhibit electrophotographic sensitivities that are at least 50% faster than the individual phthalocyanines treated in the same manner. Properties of these cocrystalline mixtures are controlled by the relative concentration of the two molecules. In this presentation we will discuss the method of their preparation and show electrophotographic results for photoconductive compositions using these mixtures. The preparation method involves a mechanical amorphization step (dry milling), followed by treatment with an organic solvent having a hydrogen bonding parameter ϒc lower than 9.0.
